Educates Managers, Owners, Boards and Staff on Building Systems
One of Cooper Square Realty's missions is to upgrade the standards and professionalism of property managers. To accomplish this, the company has created The Learning Center, a one-of-a-kind classroom that gives managers and building personnel training in building systems and operations.
The Learning Center is a dedicated large room at Cooper Square Realty's offices where students go for training. There is a basic course and additional courses for property managers and building staff. Students must pass a test with a score of 80 or better.
Through professionally made and voiced videos shown on flat-screen TVs and from seminars given by industry experts, the students learn the basics of building systems. There are 17 different stations including an elevator that was assembled on-site, small models of a furnace and water tower, plumbing equipment and a cut-away of a roof and examples of problems that can occur there.
There is also a lobby desk to discuss the role of the doorman complete with CooperSquare Connect, the company's trademarked web-based communication system.
"I don't know of another management firm in the country that has a similar set-up," says Cooper Square Realty CEO David Kuperberg. "The program gives all property managers an excellent understanding of the basics of the systems through a real-hands-on experience and we follow this up with additional courses throughout the year."
